The first is probably more important than the second, but then I suppose that depends on your priorities and interest.
Skype has just announced that it will be allowing for free computer to homeline calls for the duration of the year! Wow - yup, that's pretty amazing; the best part is it works really well. Here's an example: my grandma (87 years old) can't hear me on my cell, but when I call her home phone from my computer she can clearly hear me! Give it a try - might as well (all you need is a mic).
ABC has recently provided streaming free episodes of LOST, Alias, and that worthless show Desperate House Wives. It works really well; I haven't seen this high quality of streaming yet online (I wonder what the future holds for TV - will it soon only be online?!)
