The $100 Laptop!

I had read several RSS feeds announcing the $100 laptop, however I was still a little skeptical, until recently. MIT has now announced the $100 laptop as a reality; the best part is that it's focus will be on helping train and educate youth in 3rd and 2nd world countries. This is an exciting advancement that will vastly impact how people learn. Think of the implications: students using the laptops in these 3rd world countries will now have access to a plethora of information that has previously been either unknown or simply out of reach because of resources; now because the computers will have wireless capabilities and crank shaft battery power, students from around the world will be able to meet online and share some of what they are learning and experiencing with others. It has the potential to be a fantastic dynamic learning community, where walls of ignorance will be broken down, and where a more profound understanding of world economics and culture will be better understood and appreciated. I believe this advent will mark a change of how technology will be regarded and used in not only the world but also classrooms.
