New Blogging Queen: Joyln Meyer

One of the group members of team50 had an interesting find and has posted a great reflection on a mindtool for those with asperger's syndrome . (Note: this is the type of research, reflection and posting required if you want to achieve the points for using Blogs.)

I read an article on MSNBC.com called Virtual World Teaches Real-World Skills written by Tom Loftus. It is about a video game that helps people with Asperger's to practice socializing. "Second Life" is an online 3-D game with an island called "Brigadoon". "Second Life" is for anyone but "Brigadoon" is a real-world experiement in social skills only for a select group of individuals with Asperger's Syndrome. They create their own digital representations of themselves, build houses and seek out friends. By doing this, they create a "second life" with a level of social interaction they have not been able to do in their real lives.

At the University of Victoria in British Columbia, cognitive psychologist James Tanaka is hoping to teach facial recognition by using a custom built game called "Let's Face It". It uses photos, sounds, and positive feedback as part of a scoring system to encourage kids with autism to learn.
