Ben H. posted some great insight from his observations re: why and how we teach:
"Life skills are of great importance. Students need to recognize what it takes to survive in the world. Tech classes can teach them that. We don’t do projects because they are fun, we do them because they inspire students to reach out for new understanding, seek out new skills, and develop both physically and cognitive. Don’t teach a student how to do math, or how to use a computer program. Show them the process to learn and let them learn how to do
everything they need and want to do."
Larkin also brought up a few interesting issues we should discuss in class: (school politics, student - teacher relationships, what it's like to be at a middle school, goods and bads of teaching, etc.)
As a side note: not everyone has posted re: observation reflections, etc. = remember it is now October, which means things now need to be handed in on time.
